Rules of Engagement

Someone recently pointed out another relic of my times as the Army’s social media manager, a video I helped voice for the Command and General Staff College social media team entitled Connected Culture – Rules of Engagement.

It’s a solid piece outlining rules of the road designed specifically for federal managers and military leaders who might not be particularly familiar or comfortable with social media. Writing credit goes to the CGSC social media team, who developed the guidelines in the script to get the ball rolling as they crowd-source the development of their social media policy.

As someone who has championed the tagline of education versus regulation across dozens of organizations, military and otherwise, I think that crowd-sourcing a social media policy is key in developing guidelines that will actually help your community, and hopefully be broad and adaptable enough to prove relevant over time.
